Modernizing Chicago’s Busiest Airport

Harbour Contractors, Inc. has been the contractor of choice for the Chicago O’Hare International Airport since it was selected to add International Terminal 5 in the late 1990s. Currently, Harbour is serving as a Construction Manager for the $6.5 billion O’Hare Modernization Program. The project involves realigning the airport’s runway configuration and constructing additional runways to free the airport of the current cap limiting the number of flights per day.

The program also involves the relocation of a railroad along with expanding its current light rail system, the O’Hare Airport Transit System. The final phase of the OMP project plans for the addition of a west terminal, ring road, and the completion of the Elgin-O’Hare Expressway.

Our Responsibilities

• Building a new runway
• Relocating three existing runways
• Extending two existing runways
• Building 2 Airport Traffic Control Towers
• Constructing a 1.5 million SF terminal complex with up to 60 gates and an automated people mover
• Constructing a new western entrance to O’Hare
