OVERVIEW

Working with Fujikawa Johnson

Harbour Contractors hired Fujikawa Johnson to design this steel and glass office building as an innovative architectural solution to a complex set of planning challenges that included the shape of the triangular, three-acre flood plain site; adjacency to significant roadways and Salt Creek; height restrictions; set-back regulations; and parking requirements. Designed to maximize rentable floor areas and appeal to both large and small tenants, the building comprises 65,000 SF office space configured as three modular two-story wings, each providing a flexible 20,000 SF tenant area.

The exterior is an exposed structural steel frame with floor-to-ceiling glass. The gray-tinted glass windows are set back five feet on the first floor to create a covered arcade. The atrium that links the main entrance to the office wings is capped with expansive skylights. The atrium floor and grand staircase are finished in polished terrazzo, and the elevator core is clad in granite and Sapeli mahogany.
