OVERVIEW

Harbour was hired as the Design-Builder by Waste Management (WM) to construct two separate buildings: a transfer building that receives waste material to then be transferred to larger disposal haulers, and the ticket office, which receives and weighs the haulers. A boardwalk surrounds the detention area with signage that highlights the site’s sustainable features.

This project is LEED Certified to the Gold Level by the USGBC and includes many sustainable elements:

  • Extensive Use of Recycled and Locally Manufactured Building Materials
  • Forest Stewardship Council Certified Lumber
  • High-Reflectivity and Garden Roof System
  • Native, Drought-Tolerant Landscaping for Stormwater Treatment
  • Use of Rainwater for Toilet Flushing; Low Flow/Flush Plumbing Features
  • LEED Compliant Site Lighting Design
