OVERVIEW

Will County’s Prairie View Landfill had been operating a generating station burning landfill gas to make renewable electricity for several years. Due to recent developments in renewable natural gas (RNG) market incentives, Will County determined that it would be a net source of revenue to the county while providing a sustainable source of natural gas to the market to process the gas into pipeline-quality RNG further. This project involved building a processing plant to clean the gas interchangeable with natural gas from fossil fuels.

Harbour provided general contracting services on the job, ensuring the project was executed to the intent and standards of the engineering design and that it would come in on budget and schedule. The new construction for Will County features decarbonization of the transportation sector. The project also upgrades landfill gas to pipeline-grade fuel used in the freight supply chain to decarbonize negative carbon intensity.
