OVERVIEW

LyondellBasell contracted Harbour to design-build a new S.I.T. facility at their Morris Plastics Complex. This facility provides an additional 500 car storage capacity, including over 50,000 track feet of new track construction, reconstruction of existing loading tracks, a new transload facility, a new car maintenance building, and a new carwash facility.

Harbour constructed over 40-acres of site preparation for this project, including 6 miles of HDPE stormwater system, soil stabilization, road systems construction with HMAC, and structural concrete weir systems. In addition, we added over 55,000 feet of new track and installed 45 new turnouts, a new concrete transload road, and a new contractor’s entrance. The increased storage-in-transit capacity of 500 railcars at the Morris plant will help to eliminate demurrage costs and improve its rail efficiencies and customer delivery times for plastic resins.
