Chevron Phillips Chemical Company, LP has named HCI as the General Contractor for their Rail Yard Improvement Projects at their Cedar Bayou and Orange Plant, and Pasadena Plastics Complex located in Harris County, Orange County, and Harris County Texas, respectively. New Storage-In-Transit facilities will be constructed at each location to accommodate rail car storage of finished Chevron product. All three projects will be constructed under the same strict work standards that Chevron Phillips employs within their chemical facilities to ensure the safest possible working environment.
The Storage-In-Transit facility that is located at Chevron’s Cedar Bayou plant sits on a 61 acre site. The site will be developed to accommodate 51,428 ft. of ballasted wood tie storage track and 1,264 ft. of direct fixation track. Additionally, 2,036 ft. of existing track will be relocated. Site development includes underground drainage systems, lime-stabilized sub grade with biaxial geogrid, and site utilities, including communication and CCTV, which will be brought to the site from within the existing plant. A concrete transload road, aggregate services roads, asphalt plant roads are included in this project, as well as a small office building.
A Storage-In-Transit facility will also be constructed at Chevron’s Plant in Orange County Texas. Orange’s facility will sit on a 19 acre site and will accommodate 19,987 ft. of storage track. Site development of this facility is to the same specification, and includes many of the same items, as the Cedar Bayou facility, with the addition of a retention pond and pump station.
A third Storage-In-Transit facility will be constructed at Chevron’s Pasadena Plastics Complex. This facility is the largest of the three, as it includes 62,415 ft. of wood tie storage track, 6,910 ft. of steel tie track construction, and 1,692 ft. of direct fixation track. Site development tasks are similar to the previous two sites, as the Pasadena storage yard sits on a 60 acre site, however this site will also have a transload road with a truck scale, and an office building similar to Cedar Bayou’s.
